Welcome to the East Sussex Housing Group Web-site

Who are we: We are a group of Local Authorities and partners, working together on a variety of projects to achieve the County's housing objectives.  We are primarily made up of the East Sussex District and Borough Council Housing Officers and East Sussex County Council, although our sub-groups include members from a number of partner organisations.

What is our Vision: We take our vision from 'Pride of Place' – the East Sussex Community Strategy, which states its vision as: to create places where everyone can prosper, be safe and healthy, and live in a high quality environment.

What do we do: The purpose of the Housing Group is to work together to meet the strategic housing objectives of the member organisations. We aim to achieve this by:

  • Improving provision of housing services in the County through
    sharing knowledge, expertise and resources
  • Managing shared resources for the benefit of all the partner organisations
  • Developing an excellent understanding of housing demand, needs and
    conditions across the County
  • Creating efficiencies through joint working where possible
  • Lobbying for the interests of the County on housing issues
  • Developing collaborative working across the County

How will we meet our objectives: The main ESHG group is made up of Senior Housing Managers; beneath this group sit a number of operational groups, each with their own work plan designed to develop and deliver actions to meet agreed objectives.  The sub-groups, and their objectives are:

  • Housing Delivery Group  focusing on delivery of housing and affordable housing to meet the needs of East Sussex residents
  • Housing Policy & Improvement Group  focusing on improving delivery of housing advice, options and homelessness services to residents of East Sussex
  • Housing Management Group  including officers from East Sussex Housing Associations, focusing on improving delivery of services to tenants of social housing in East Sussex
  • BEST (Brighton & East Sussex Together)  including officers from East Sussex and Brighton & Hove Local Authorities, focusing on private sector housing renewal in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove
